I AM THE PLOT, BABE: A VILLAINESSES COMMENT FICATHON

A comment ficathon dedicated to the women who shape the story.  A villainess is any woman who is simply not "good", whether she plays the traditional roles of protagonist or antagonist, whether she narrates her own story (Cersei Lannister, to use an example from the banner) or is seen through the lens of someone else's (Bellatrix Black).  She can be fictional, historical, contemporary; from the books, from the movies, from music: if she's a villainous woman, she's in!

HOW TO PROMPT
Simple: leave a comment with fandom, character name, and prompt.  The prompt can be anything, from a line of poetry or a song lyric, to a quote directly from the woman herself, to a fic you've always wanted written about her.  Anything goes!

HOW TO FILL
Reply to the prompt comment with your fic.  In the subject line, put the title of your fic, the characters in it, and rating; be sure to include any pertinent trigger warnings.  Then link to your fill in the "filled" thread!

PROMOTION
Please feel more than free to promote the ficathon! You can use the banner above or make your own (and if you do, tell me so I can post it here).  If you're using the above banner, here's the code for LJ promotion:

PALIMPSEST | queen → regina | pg-13
There once was a woman who dreamed of the throne—

Oh, she knows the beginning, knows the legacy before it is written. They will write of her once she is already a woman. They will neglect her girlhood, her innocence. (Oh, she had her share, once. It was not lost by the swell of her body, nor the flush of black magic under her skin. Only by sadness; it was tragedy, not desire, that hollowed her out from within. The desire came second: empty creatures always want more.) She will always be a woman, until she dies.

No beginning, so she cannot earn her end.

You are wicked, the land speaks, and the land withers; Storybrooke has a harsh winter and a meagre summer and she reaps nothing so plentifully as the commoners' whispers. They grow too strong and the land is on their side; the forest alone remains flush and green, that bandit-raddled wolf trap turning soft and lush as a princess's bed. The land is not hers. For she is wicked, with a bright mouth and a hungry soul, for she is not born into the land, and the land is possessive of its rulers, of its history. Its stories.

Nobody else realizes, she thinks. The line bloody heroes that have come before are so blithe, so sure they deserve it. When the land spreads its wealth beneath them, spreads its magic and munificence like a bride with her legs apart under the sheet. Better, cleverer minds have died, she thinks, to keep the magic white and the royal line pure. The history books forget the blood. She does not: she burns the parchments with herbs and glittering spices wrought from the belly of the earth and watches them ignite. Squeezes the blood from old, strong hearts into the smoke and seals her claim by diminishing seconds.

This land has no scruples. That's what it picks its heroes for—but she is wicked, and she knows so much better.

A kingdom is a tricky thing, she thinks. You can only take one for so long.

Far better to make your own.

There once was a great woman in a small world, and she reached out her great hand, and the blank face of the land turned up to her to be molded in the images of her heart.

There, then. That is a beginning all her own.

There once was a woman who dreamed of a land without a throne, who rent the land apart to lay the ground of a new one.

And then she did not have to dream.

Regina Mills wakes up in the morning, lays a hand to the calm beat of her heart, and smiles.
