A comment ficathon dedicated to the women who shape the story.  A villainess is any woman who is simply not "good", whether she plays the traditional roles of protagonist or antagonist, whether she narrates her own story (Cersei Lannister, to use an example from the banner) or is seen through the lens of someone else's (Bellatrix Black).  She can be fictional, historical, contemporary; from the books, from the movies, from music: if she's a villainous woman, she's in!

Simple: leave a comment with fandom, character name, and prompt.  The prompt can be anything, from a line of poetry or a song lyric, to a quote directly from the woman herself, to a fic you've always wanted written about her.  Anything goes!

Reply to the prompt comment with your fic.  In the subject line, put the title of your fic, the characters in it, and rating; be sure to include any pertinent trigger warnings.  Then link to your fill in the "filled" thread!

Please feel more than free to promote the ficathon! You can use the banner above or make your own (and if you do, tell me so I can post it here).  If you're using the above banner, here's the code for LJ promotion:

Watch Me Flying | Harry Potter (Pansy Parkinson) | PG13 | TW: Blood
This is what Pansy knows: she is born with the right to rule singing in her veins. This is what she learns: her blood defines her, elevates her, it will ensure her a place at the head of a new order.

When she is five, she cuts her hand on a sharp, flat stone she finds outside and watches in fascination as the red wells up and then drips down, down, down, staining the earth below her. It doesn’t look that special, she thinks, but her daddy says it makes her better than the other girls. Suddenly, she feels guilty for wasting it. She clenches her small fists so tightly her arms shake, trying to press the blood back in. I take it back. This is what I am.

She does not grow up pretty, but she grows up with the knowledge that she is special, that her blood makes her better. The others don’t see that at first, and they are vindictive in the way only children can be. Don’t you see? she wants to say, don’t you see that my face doesn’t matter? It’s my blood that counts. I’m pureblood. That makes me stronger than you. She learns quickly that the right words in the right places make the girls fall, one two three four like dominoes, until it’s just Pansy, at the top where she belongs.

At Hogwarts, it is different. The girls gravitate to her, the boys eye her with a fascination she’s never seen in boys’ eyes before. She looks at the boys at the Slytherin table at the opening feast and thinks: I will marry one of these boys. She thinks: These girls will wish they were me. Let the mock her, envy her - it doesn’t matter. She can unmake them with a word because she will do anything, everything, to claim and keep her rightful place. She’s eleven years old, born to conquer, ready to see the world at her feet.

I really, really love this, it's gorgeous. I'm taking part in the Awesome Ladies Podfic Anthology and I'd really like to record this for it, would that be okay? Obviously you'd be credited and linked and everything :)

sure! it's like "me-ta-sak-sail" if that makes any sense? it means "mythical life" in irish gaelic, so that's how i would say it with my (admittedly odd) irish accent :)
